How to Dye

Step 1: Remove Color (Optional) 

If your fabric is already white, you are good to go! If your fabric has an existing color, remove it with Rit Color Remover.

You can go with an already bottled shade or one of our thousand color formulas. The bottom line is you have options.

You can dye in a sink, bucket or even with your washing machine!

Step 4: Create a Dye Bath

We generally recommend mixing 4 ounces of dye with three gallons of hot water per pound of fabric. The key is to make sure your dye bath is big enough for the fabric to move freely.

Step 5: Dye Your Fabric

Depending on how bold of a color you are trying to achieve, this can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes.
