Every room deserves a pop of pink 🎀 Here are some things to keep in mind when dyeing synthetic fabrics, especially something as big as curtains ⤵️

👉 If you are dyeing an item that contains more than 35% synthetic fabric (such as polyester, acrylic, acetate or nylon), then Rit DyeMore is what you’ll need.

👉 Synthetic fabrics require heat! The heat opens up the fibers of the fabric, allowing the dye molecules to penetrate deeply and bond with the material. Accordingly, we don’t recommend dyeing cold-wash only garments.

👉 We recommend using the stovetop method to maintain an almost boiling temperature for the duration of your dyeing (200°F or greater).

👉 Stir continuously for the first 15-20 minutes. The first 10 minutes is the most critical to avoid any uneven splotches of dye.

👉 Make sure you have a pot big enough for your dye project. You will need to fill it with enough water for the fabric to move freely. If there isn’t enough water, then the dye could absorb unevenly. We recommend 3 gallons of water per one pound of fabric.

👉 Rinse in WARM water, then gradually cool water until rinse water runs clear.
