Pantone's Color of the Year for 2018 is Ultra Violet

January 15 2018

Last month, Pantone announced their Color of the Year for 2018: Ultra Violet. The color is “complex and contemplative and suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead and the discoveries beyond where we are now.”

According to Patone, purples have also been symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality and artistic brilliance. It’s only a matter of time before you see your neighbors painting their front door’s ultra-violet and start seeing DIY projects centered around this trending color.

To help you get started on this trend, we have developed color formulas to match Ultra Violet in both our All-Purpose Dye and our new DyeMore for Synthetics. This way you don’t have to go out and buy ultra violet colored items, instead you can just dye what you already have!

All-Purpose Formula
1/2 Cup Royal Blue
1/4 Cup Purple
3 Gallons Hot Water
DyeMore Formula (Stovetop Method Only)
1 1/4 Cup Royal Purple
1/4 Cup Frost Grey
2 Tablespoons Super Pink
3 Gallons Almost Boiling Water

You can dye curtains, bed sheets, wearables, lamps, polyester rugs or whatever else your heart desires! Tag #RitDye to show us your Ultra Violet creations!
