You'll Also Need

  •   Styrofoam wreath form

  •    8-12 cup white basket style paper coffee filters (80-120 depending on the size of your wreath)

  •   glue gun

  •   latex gloves

  •   paper towels

  •   plastic table cover

Step By Step

  1. Cover table with plastic. Gather supplies.

  2. First, Dye the coffee filters. Wearing rubber gloves, prepare dyebath by mixing hot water and Rit Dye. The ratio of water to dye depends on how many filters you’re dyeing and how vibrant you want them to be. For our bright filters, we mixed 1/3 cup dye with 1 quart of water.

  3. To dye the filters simply grab a stack and dip them into your bath for a few seconds until they absorb as much dye as you want. Remove filters from the dyebath and allow to drain for 1 hour. Separate filters and lay out to dry on paper towels, newspaper, or hang on a clothesline to dry.

  4. Gently fold all the coffee filters into quarters and twist the point of each one so it looks like a loose flower shape.

  5. Start on the inside of the wreath and hot glue the flower stems all the way around the form in a row.

  6. Once that is done, start row number two, glue all the way around.

  7. Continue gluing rows until your wreath is full and beautiful. Leave the back bare so it’s flat and easy to hang.
