You'll Also Need

  •   Giant rubber tote Huge lobster kettle and outdoor burner to heat up water

  •   rubber gloves

Step By Step

  1. This was my old wedding dress which I altered so I needed to make sure it was clean. To remove stains and residues that would prevent the dye from taking hold I went to the Laundromat and shoved the dress in one of the jumbo washers. (Picture is dress before alterations)

  2. Using an Outdoor burner and a giant lobster pot I heated up 5+gallons of hot water at once

  3. Dyed via the Tub method: Dumped the boiling water and 5 bottles of dye in a large plastic tub and left it to soak for an hour. I wore rubber gloves to make handling/stirring it around bearable

  4. Rinsed the dress in a plastic tub of cold water and then hung it to dry. Some of the dye residue was still coming off at the touch so I ran it through the rinse cycle in the washing machine.
