You'll Also Need

  •   Ice Cubes

  •   Cooling Rack

  •   Large Plastic Storage Bin

  •   Small Plastic Spoon

Step By Step

  1. Gather supplies.

  2. Pre-wash fabric with fabric detergent, rinse and leave wet.

  3. Completely crumple wet fabric into a small, flat ball

  4. Place crumpled fabric on top of drying rack, over the plastic tub (to catch dripping dye).

  5. Cover fabric completely with ice. Different ice sizes will yield different patterns.

  6. Wearing rubber gloves, open dye packages. Use spoon to sprinkle dye on the ice. More powder will yield darker results. For more white space, sprinkle dye on as you might sprinkle salt on food. Adding color in sections will yield more of an ombre effect.

  7. Let the ice melt completely through the fabric.

  8. To enhance the color and reduce color bleeding, use Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative after dyeing and before washing. Add four tablespoons of ColorStay Dye Fixative to there gallons of hot water. Place dyed fabric in bath.

  9. Stir occasionaly for 20 minutes.

  10. Enjoy!
