Project Description

I bought a very plain white dress on Ebay for a super great price and in under an hour I transformed it with a 1/2 bottle of Cherry Red Rit dye. So easy!

Step By Step

  1. I started with this very pretty but plain white cotton Tahari dress I scored from Ebay. I loved the lace detail but it was almost impossible to see.

  2. I added about 1/2 bottle of Cherry Red liquid Rit dye to a sink full of very hot water.

  3. I added the dress to the dye bath and used my hand (with rubber gloves on) to agitate the dress in the water, making sure the dye had enough room and water to work its way through the fibers of the whole dress.

  4. [optional step] I always thoroughly spray my fabric projects liberally with Rit Dye Fixative. It helps my project keep a richer color during the rinsing process. Once I've sprayed my project, I let it sit while I clean up and then I do rinse the project until the water runs clear as directed.

  5. And that's it. A pretty dress turn into a WOW dress with a about $2 worth of Rit dye.

  6. Ready for date night!

    Does chiffon fabric take dye?

Hi Eileen, Chiffon can be made of various materials. For us to better assist you, what is the exact fabric content of the material? Thanks!
