Project Description

Here is a great project to make using Rit Dye, silky lace ribbon and large hole ornate beads. Once complete its a perfect accessory to jazz up an outfit. Wrap a few of these around your wrist and head to the beach or wear to Coachella. Be free spirited and find the inner bohemian in you.

  •   tongs

  •    foil pan

  •    medium sized bowl

  •    plastic spoon

  •    white lace silky trim

  •    Large hole ornate beads

  •    scissors

  •    tapestry needle

  •   measuring cup

  •   measuring spoons

  •   paper towels

  •   plastic table cover

  •   rubber gloves

Step By Step

  1. Directions To Dye The Lace Ribbon With Liquid Dye: Prep your surface. Lay plastic table cover on the surface you will working over. Put on your rubber or latex gloves

  2. Mix 2 tablespoons Rit liquid dye aquamarine with 1 1/2 cups hot water in a plastic, or metal bowl and stir. Let steep for 20 minutes. For good hot water, heat some in the microwave in a glass bowl for 2 minutes.

  3. Place lace ribbon in the liquid dye solution, let set for 5-10 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove the dyed ribbon when desired color is achieved and place onto a foil pan. Let dry. Reserve your remaining mixture for more dying by pouring into a glass jar or container, keep sealed.

  4. Directions To Dye The Lace Ribbon With Color Perfect Liquid Dye: Pour 1/2 bottle of Rit color perfect liquid dye amethyst purple plastic, or metal bowl and stir.

  5. Place lace ribbon in the liquid dye, let set for 2-3 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove the dyed ribbon when desired color is achieved and place onto a foil pan. Let dry. Pour your remaining mixture back into the Rit contianer.

  6. Directions To make Bracelet: Measure the dyed lace 20 inches and cut. Thread a tapestry needle with one end of the dyed lace.

  7. Thread one to three beads onto the dyed lace. Tie a double knot at each bead end to secure in place.

  8. Wrap your bracelet around your wrist and wear out on the town or to your next adventure.

  9. Tips/Tricks: -Paint various sections of color perfect dye onto the bracelet for more boho whimsy. -Thread more then three beads onto your bracelet. layer a few ribbons through the beads.-I used Beads from the Uncommon Elegance Line of Jesse James Beads.
