Project Description

The latest trend in the fashion industry are handmade jewelry. Ribbon, lace and fabric necklaces and bracelets are popping up everywhere and can be quite expensive to purchase. However I have come up with several ways to create your own eye catching jewelry using ribbon, lace trim, snap clasp, buttons and RIT DYE. For this project: Victorian Lace Bracelet, all you need is lace trim, snap on clasps, rhinestone button and new Rit Color Perfect dye. xo

  •   disposable bowl

  •    foil

  •    rhinestone buttons

  •    magnetic fabric snaps

  •    lace trim

  •    sewing needle

  •    quilting thread

  •    fabric tac

  •   latex gloves

  •   old towel

Step By Step

  1. Prep your surface. Lay plastic table cover on the surface you will working over. Put on your rubber or latex gloves.

  2. Pour 1/2 the bottle of Rit color perfect liquid dye in a disposable bowl, set aside. Then cut lace trim into a 12 inch strip.

  3. Dip the lace trim into the bowl of color perfect liquid dye, stir until saturated with color.

  4. Remove dyed lace trim and place on foil or newspaper, let dry. Speed up drying process using a heat tool.

  5. Fold each end of the dyed ribbon about 2 inches, secure with fabri-tac, let dry. Attach magnetic snaps to each end to form a bracelet.

  6. Thread a sewing needle with quilting thread and stitch on a rhinestone button to the middle of the bracelet.

  7. Tips/Tricks:-For a stiffer bracelet spray your bracelet with fabric starch. -Cut a larger piece of lace and turn into a choker necklace. -I used lace trim from Joannes Fabrics. Rhinestone buttons from bazzill basics. Clasps from Everything Mary. -Color perfect liquid from Rit is easy to use.
