Project Description

Hand dye lace or silk ribbon, cover a wood bangle, add a pin. The result a chic handmade style bracelet you can wear anywhere. xo Lisa

  •   tongs

  •    foil pan

  •    medium sized bowl

  •    plastic spoon

  •    white lace trim

  •    jewelry pin

  •    jewelry findings

  •    wood or plastic bangle

  •    hot glue sticks

  •    scissors

  •   glue gun

  •   measuring cup

  •   measuring spoons

  •   paper towels

  •   plastic table cover

  •   rubber gloves

Step By Step

  1. Directions To Dye The Lace Ribbon: Prep your surface. Lay plastic table cover on the surface you will working over. Put on your rubber or latex gloves

  2. Mix 2 tablespoons Rit liquid dye aquamarine with 1 1/2 cups hot water in a plastic, or metal bowl and stir. Let steep for 20 minutes. For good hot water, heat some in the microwave in a glass bowl for 2 minutes.

  3. Place lace ribbon in the liquid dye solution, let set for 5-10 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove the dyed ribbon when desired color is achieved and place onto a foil pan. Let dry. Reserve your remaining mixture for more dying by pouring into a glass jar or container, keep sealed.

  4. Directions To make Bracelet: Add a dab of hot glue to the inside of a bangle bracelet and attach a piece of the dyed lace ribbon to it, let set.

  5. Begin wrapping the dyed lace ribbon around the bangle, over lapping the edges, until the whole bangle is covered. If parts of the bangle are still showing, wrap a second time. Glue the end of the dyed lace ribbon with more hot glue.

  6. Decorate your ribbon bangle with a pin, jewelry findings or rhinestones. Then wear it out on the town.

  7. Tips/Tricks: -Use the left over dyed lace ribbon to make a tie on bracelet. -Use fabric scraps or silk ribbon in place of the lace ribbon.
