Valentine's Day "Love Hearts" Card

Step 1:

Protect work area with newspapers or plastic.

Use foam brush or sponge to apply Batik-EZ Resist Medium on heart stamp. Then stamp repeatedly on watercolor paper, brushing on more medium after each impression. Wash stamp immediately. Let paper dry or dry with heat tool.

Mix Rit Dye: Note: For darker shades, use more dye.

Fuchsia Liquid: Mix one teaspoon dye and ½ cup hot tap water; stir well.

Royal Blue Liquid: Use full strength.

Brush, sponge or spray Fuchsia Rit dye liberally on paper. Using a small paintbrush, paint large white flower with Fuchsia dye and immerse button in dye for a few minutes. Paint smaller white flower with Royal Blue dye.

Brush, sponge or spray the Fuchsia dye and the Royal Blue dye on scrap pieces of plain watercolor paper that has not been stamped with the resist.

Dry paper and flower in the microwave: Line bottom of microwave with paper towels. Place the dyed paper in the microwave and set on high for 1-2 minutes. Remove button from dye and let air dry.

Remove paper and gently rinse off the Batik medium using a wet sponge or foam brush. Do not rinse the flowers. Let paper air dry or dry in microwave for 1 minute.

Using black ink, overstamp the curly heart on the dyed Fuchsia resist paper.

Cut approximately ½ inch from bottom front of card, then punch bottom of white card with border design. Cut stamped Fuchsia panel to approximately 3 ½ inches and glue to front of card so that scallop edge shows. Use border punch to create another scallop trim from plain Royal Blue paper. Glue Royal Blue scallop under white scallop so that some of the blue paper shows through the eyelet.

Stamp Fancy Hearts on scraps of the Fuchsia and Royal Blue dyed paper using clear embossing ink. (Stamp small circle hearts once on blue. Stamp large circle hearts once on blue, once on pink.) Apply white embossing powder, shake off the excess, then heat the powder. (Pour excess powder back into jar.) Cut out the hearts and affix to left side of card as shown. (Glue small circle blue heart flat; use dimensional tape or Glue Dots to attach the other two hearts so they are raised a bit.)

Stamp “Love” on Royal Blue dyed scrap using clear embossing powder. Heat emboss with white powder. Cut out sentiment and round edges using a scissor. Attach to upper right of card using dimensional foam or Glue Dot.

Tie white yarn through pink button. Use Glue Dot or other adhesive to attach button to blue flower. Attach blue flower to pink flower and attach both to card front as shown.
