Two-Tone Scarf Refashion

Step 2:

Roll the scarf loosely along the length.

Step 3:

Mix 1 package of Rit Color Remover in 2 gallons of very hot water. You can use the stovetop or sink/bucket method. Stir to make sure the Color Remover is fully dissolved.

Holding the rolled scarf by the folded edge, dip it halfway into the color remover solution and hold for about 5-10 minutes.

Step 4:

While still holding by the folded edge, remove from the color remover solution and rinse in hot, then warm water to remove excess color remover. Do not use cold water. It could set wrinkles into your fabric. Wash with warm water in mild detergent and dry.

Step 5:

On to the dyeing!!

Wash out your container well to reuse for dyeing. Wearing rubber gloves, shake, measure and mix ½ cup of Evening Blue dye with 1 cup of salt in 2 gallons of very hot 140˚F water. Stir to mix well.

Soak the scarf in warm water and squeeze out excess water. Immerse in the dye bath and stir for even dyeing for about 10 minutes or until desired color is achieved. Remember: Colors will dry a bit lighter.

Remove from dyebath and rinse in cool water until the water runs clear. Wash in warm water with mild detergent and dry.

And there you have it. Wrap it, twist it and style it at will.
