Two-Tone Dip-Dyed Tshirt

Step 1:

- For best results, prewash T-shirt to remove any finishes that may interfere with dye absorption.

- With T-shirt wet, lay the shirt flat and gather it from side to side creating a tube.

- Wrap three rubber bands tightly around the upper center of the tube.

- Prepare Sunshine Orange dye: Fill bucket or dishpan with 1 gallon very hot tap water (140° F). If water is not hot enough, heat some water in a tea kettle. Pour ½ bottle (4 ounces) Sunshine Orange liquid dye or 1 box powdered dye into hot water; stir well.

- Carefully dip the top portion of the shirt into the Sunshine Orange dye bath. Be careful that the dye only touches the top portion of the shirt. Continue dipping until the desired depth of color is reached. Remove shirt from dye bath and squeeze out excess dye. Rinse under cold running water until water runs clear. Squeeze out excess water.

- Prepare Fuchsia dye: Fill bucket or dishpan with 1 gallon very hot tap water (140° F). If water is not hot enough, heat some water in a tea kettle. Pour ½ bottle (4 ounces) Fuchsia liquid dye or 1 box powdered dye into hot water; stir well.

- Dip the lower portion of the shirt into the Fuchsia dye bath. Continue dipping until the desired depth of color is reached. Remove shirt from dye bath and squeeze out excess dye. Rinse under cold running water until water runs clear.

- Remove rubber bands and wash the shirt in warm water with mild detergent, rinse, dry and iron neckline and sleeves.
