Tie-Dyed Peace Cookie Jar & Tree Ornament

Step 2:

8. Fold large dyed square in half diagonally, then fold edges together again (similar to folding paper for a snowflake). Use scissors to cut fringe approximately 1 inch in from raw edges. Unfold and set aside.

9. Make a peace sign by using a small bowl to trace a 3 ½” circle on chipboard. Draw the peace sign symbol and then draw a second line about 3/8” away as shown. Cut out shape. Or, print off a peace sign..

Step 3:

10. Glue peace sign onto small tie-dyed square. Carefully cut inside open areas leaving enough fabric to wrap onto back of peace sign and glue in place.

Step 4:

11. Spread glue onto back of peace sign, add rows of colored twine to cover all areas on back. Wrap two pieces of twine approximately 4” long around top to hang ornament. Do NOT tie on top at this time.

12. Bring one end of twine down behind center of peace sign ornament, tie through button to hang beneath ornament. Add small amount of glue to back top of button to hold string in center on back.

13. Following the Cookie Jar Sugar Cookie recipe, fill a clear 32 oz. jar with flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg and sugar. Between the flour and sugar, Cindi added a layer of rainbow sprinkles for a decorative effect.

14. Place large fringed tie-dyed square over the lid. Use twine to tie around jar and hold in place. Tie on peace sign ornament.

15. Print off Cookie Jar Sugar Cookie recipe ( http://allrecipes.com/Recipe-Tools/Print/Recipe.aspx?recipeID=11064&origin=detail&servings=12&metric=false)
and attach to jar. Or, make your own cookies and fill the jar with those.

Step 5:

The Peace Sign Ornament can be hung on a tree as a reminder of the holiday goodwill you shared!
