Step 2:

3. Insert the freezer paper, waxed side up, into the body of the T-Shirt. Center the pattern and hold it in place with clamps. The freezer paper keeps the glue from soaking through the T-shirt.

Step 3:

4. Using the Elmer’s School Glue Gel and starting at the top of the shirt, trace the first two words. Then trace and fill in the bunny, except for the inner ears and heart. Just trace around these shapes. They will be filled in later. Then trace the last two words. (You may want to practice tracing on a scrap of fabric so that you get a thin but steady flow of glue.)

5. Set the T-shirt aside and allow the glue to dry overnight or about 8 hours. Shirt must be completely dry. This is very important.

Step 4:

Dyeing the T-Shirt

1. Cover work surface with a plastic table cover.

2. Shake all dye bottles just before pouring dye. Measure ⅛ Teaspoon (about a drop), Fuchsia dye with 1 Tablespoon of Elmer’s School Glue Gel onto a paper plate. Stir with a toothpick until completely mixed.

3. Using a small paint brush, fill in the heart on the bunny’s front and the bunny’s inner ears with the Fuchsia dye/glue mixture. Keep as smooth an edge as possible.

4. Allow the Fuchsia dye/glue mixture to dry completely. This will take a few hours. Note: The Fuchsia dye will color the fabric and remain in the painted areas.

Step 5:

5. Fill large dye container with 8 cups very hot water (140° F). Wearing rubber gloves, measure and mix 5 Tablespoons Lemon Yellow dye and 1 Tablespoon Aquamarine dye with water. Stir well.

6. Immerse the T-shirt into the dye solution for about 3 minutes, stirring the shirt and dye several times to ensure the T-shirt is dyed evenly.

7. Rinse the T-shirt in cold water until the water runs clear and then wash water with a mild detergent to remove any excess glue or dye. Dry and iron to remove wrinkles.

Step 6:

8. To dye rickrack: In a small container, measure and mix 2 teaspoons Fuchsia dye with ½ cup very hot water. Stir well. Immerse the rickrack in the dye solution for about 3 minutes or until the desired color is achieved. Rinse in cold water then wash in warm soapy water. Hang to dry.

9. Pin the rickrack near the bottom edge of the T-shirt and around the neck edge; machine stitch in place.
