Step 2:

Using a ruler and the disappearing ink pen, draw diagonal lines across the front of the T-shirt, as shown. The message you write will determine how many lines you need and how far apart they should be. If you prefer, the lines can be drawn straight across the front. This is your design choice!

Step 3:

Write your message out on paper so you can refer to it as needed.

Using the Elmer’s School Glue Gel, carefully write your message across the front of the T-shirt. (It’s best to practice on a scrap of fabric or old T-shirt first. I found it was better not to have the glue tip opened all the way.) If desired, draw hearts or other decorations.

Set the T-shirt aside and allow the glue to dry overnight. It’s very important that the glue is completely dry!

Step 4:

Cover your work surface with a plastic table cover.

Heat 6 cups of water on the stove to very hot, at least 140° F. Pour into 1-gallon container.

Wearing rubber gloves, shake dye bottle and measure 6 Tablespoons Fuchsia dye into hot water. Stir well.

Immerse T-shirt into the dye solution. Squeeze the dye through the T-shirt making sure that the entire shirt is saturated with dye. Stir the shirt in the dye mixture for about 1 minute.

Remove the shirt and rinse in cool water until the water runs clear.

Step 5:

Wash with mild detergent and warm water to remove any excess glue and dye. Rinse shirt, dry and iron.
