"A Day in the Woods" Father's Day Card

Step 2:

3. Wearing gloves, measure and mix 1 Tablespoon Apple Green dye with 2 cups hot water; stir well.

4. Gently crumple 8 1/2” x 11” sheet of dictionary patterned paper and insert into hot dye. Let set approximately 1 minute, carefully remove from dye and place on paper towel.

5. To heat set dye: Place dyed paper on paper towel in microwave and heat for approximately 1 minute. Remove from microwave.

Step 3:

6. Use paintbrush to apply Cocoa Brown dye directly from the bottle to the branch stamp. Randomly stamp onto dyed dictionary paper to create an all-over pattern, reapplying dye between stampings.

Step 4:

7. Use small paint brush to apply Apple Green dye directly from bottle onto larger pine tree rubber stamp, stamp between and around branch images on dictionary paper, reapplying dye between each stamping. Let dry or heat in the microwave for 30 – 60 seconds.

8. Stamp larger pine tree stamp with Apple Green dye three times in a row on tan card stock. Then apply Apple Green dye to small pine tree stamp and stamp three times in a row on tan card stock. Set aside to dry or microwave on paper towels for approximately 30 seconds.

9. Use paintbrush to apply Cocoa Brown dye directly to larger moose stamp. Stamp centered over larger row of stamped trees on tan card stock. Set aside to dry or microwave on paper towels approximately 30 seconds.

10. Use paintbrush to apply Cocoa Brown dye directly to smaller moose stamp. Stamp centered over smaller row of stamped trees on tan card stock. Set aside to dry or microwave on paper towels approximately 30 seconds.

11. Ink “Happy Father’s Day” stamp with brown ink and stamp onto tan card stock. Trim around verse, ink edges with brown ink pad, layer onto mat of darker brown card stock approximately 1/8” larger on all sides.

12. To dye buttons: Wearing craft gloves, measure and mix 1 teaspoon Apple Green dye with 1/4 cup of hot water. In separate bowl, measure and mix 1 teaspoon Cocoa Brown dye with 1/4 cup hot water. Insert 3 small white buttons into green dye and 2 into brown dye. Let set approximately 5 minutes. Remove from dye and dry on paper towel.

Step 5:

13. Measure and cut brown card stock to 7” x 10”. Fold in half with darker side facing out to create 5” x 7” card. Apply brown ink pad to all edges.

14. Measure and cut brown card stock (lighter shade) to 6 1/2” x 4 1/2”. Ink all edges with brown ink pad. Mount centered on card front.

15. Measure and cut green- stamped dictionary paper to 6 1/8” x 4 1/4”. Ink all edges with brown ink pad. Mount centered over lighter brown card stock on front of card.

16. Measure and cut lighter brown card stock to 4 1/2” x 2 3/4”. Ink all edges with brown ink pad.

17. Trim around larger stamped moose image. Piece shown is 4 1/8” x 2 1/4”. Ink all edges with brown ink pad.

18. Cut 4 strips of dyed drywall tape to 4”. Mount horizontally over smaller light brown card stock rectangle on front of card, allowing to overlap on all sides.

19. Mount moose image over drywall tape, centered on lighter brown card stock mat.

20. Use glue spots to mount buttons to four corners of stamped moose image on card front.

21. Mount finished moose image at an angle on left front of card. Mount “Happy Father’s Day” verse at an angle on right bottom side of card front, as shown.

Step 6:

1. For inside card (will be lighter brown if using double-sided card stock), measure and cut 4 1/4” x 6 1/4” piece of green-stamped dictionary paper. Mount centered on inside of card.

2. Trim around smaller moose and tree image. Ink all edges with brown ink pad.

3. Measure and cut darker brown piece of card stock to 2 1/4” x 2 3/4”. Ink all edges with brown ink pad.

4. Measure and cut piece of dyed drywall tape to 4 1/2”. Mount beneath brown card stock, as shown.

5. Mount moose and tree image over brown card stock and drywall tape. Add green dyed button accent on center left edge of stamped image. Mount to inside bottom right quarter of card.
