Black Lace and Pearls

Step 1:

This is the original jacket. Although cute as is I felt it needed something more to make it stand out. I diluted two packages of Rit black dye in a small amount of hot water. When it was dissolved I added it to a bucket with enough water to cover the jacket. I then wet the jacket and submerged it in the dye mixture. I let it sit in the dye solution for six hours stirring every half hour. I rinsed thoroughly and hung to dry.
I appliqued the rose photo (heat set to make it washable) on the center back and then framed it in black lace using the sewing machine.
I added back lace to the bottom edge using the sewing machine.
The pearls were glued to the center of the original buttons with E6000 which makes it washable.
