Batik-Dyed Daisy Card

Step 1:

- Cover work area with newspapers.

- Mix Rit Dye: Note: For darker shades, use more dye.
Powder: To spray bottle, add 2 teaspoons dye and 1 cup hot tap water. Shake until dye is dissolved.
Liquid: To spray bottle, add 1 teaspoon dye and 1 cup hot tap water. Shake to mix.

- Using a small paint brush, apply Batik-EZ to Leaf and Daisy stamps. Then press stamps onto watercolor paper to create flower. (Batik-EZ does not need to dry.)

- Spray Rit Navy Blue dye randomly around flower, and then spray the Purple dye, overlapping colors.

- Line bottom of microwave with paper towels. Place the wet watercolor paper in the microwave and set on High for one minute. Then place watercolor paper under running water, and use a sea sponge to lightly remove the resist medium and excess dyes. A batik effect will result.

- Lay wet, rinsed paper on a flat surface to dry. (To speed up drying, press paper with an iron between paper towels.) When paper is dry, use a fine black pen to create an outline around each stamped daisy and leaf.

- Peel off backing from Purple Vellum; adhere to front of card. Then tear around the edges of the batik-dyed paper; glue to front of card over vellum.
