“Get Well” Poppy Card

Step 1:

- Fold white in half, creating a card 4 ½” x 6 ¼”. Peel off backing from Blue Vellum; adhere to front of card.

- Use the Chacopaper to trace the poppy pattern onto the watercolor paper. Use the detail brush to apply the Batik-EZ onto the lines.

- Cover work surface with newspaper.

-Use the dyes full strength and pour them onto a palette. Use the round brush to first apply a liberal amount of Lemon Yellow dye to the inner section of the poppy leaves and the center of the poppy. Next apply Royal Blue to the outside of each petal and Evening Blue to the inside of each petal (since the dyes are wet they will tend to bleed together). Apply Kelly Green to the left side of the poppy center over the Yellow dye. Apply Kelly Green to each leaf. Use the Purple dye to outline around the entire poppy and leaves.

- Line bottom of microwave with paper towels. Place the wet watercolor paper in the microwave and set on High for one minute. Then place watercolor paper under running water, and use a sea sponge to remove the resist medium and excess dyes. If deeper colors are desired, reapply dyes and place in microwave another minute.

- Use scissors to cut around the poppy, leaving 1/8” of the purple showing.

- Apply glue to back of cut-out poppy; adhere to front of card.

- Stamp or print the words “Get Well” onto small piece of watercolor paper.

- Tear around the edge of the paper; glue message to front of card.
