Last Minute Valentine's Day Idea: A Sweet-♡ Felt Garland

Renate

Need a quick idea to decorate for a Valentine's Day party? You can whip this felted heart garland up in no time. I was inspired when making the wool felt hearts for a recent Vday wreath. So I dyed a few more pieces of wool in Cherry Red, Fuchsia and Petal Pink and strung them up in this cutie pie garland.

Here's basically the how-to:

Start with some dyed wool felt. This is a great project for using up scrap pieces because you'll just be cutting out small hearts. Again, take a peek at the Valentine's Day Hearts & Flowers Wreath tutorial to see the whole dye process. AND... make sure your felt is wool. There's some polyester felt out there which doesn't dye.

OK, once you have some dyed felt, just cut out any size hearts you like. These were about 3" each.

Then stitch an "X" in the middle of each heart to give it almost a button look. I used baker's twine because I love the red/white effect but almost any contrasting yarn color would work just as well.

When I had all the hearts stitched, they're turned over and a length of twine is glued to the backside of each. You can decide the spacing and length of twine by how far you need to span for your decorative needs. For glueing, you can use fabric glue or hot glue.

Et voila!  Super cute, right? OK, Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  Eat lotsa chocolates!
